The U.S. has recently seen a surge in the number of unaccompanied minor immigrants in the country illegally, many of whom cross the border in to Texas. Hundreds of them have been transferred to Arizona for handling. With many fleeing across the border to seek political asylum in the U.S. the debate is a heated topic. The U.S. has its own problems, so how is it able to take on such a task? Home soil Americans living below poverty levels, homelessness at an all time high, schools failing, crime rates increasing and people losing hope in their own government. Its difficult and sad to turn the children away, say many, but there are children right here suffering in many ways as well. With no end result immediately in sight, many wonder what the future holds. According to Justice Department figures seen by The Wall Street Journal, in fiscal year 2013, immigration judges ordered 3,525 children alone to be deported, with an additional 888 allowed to return home voluntarily. These numbers pale in comparison with the number of juveniles apprehended, amounting to between 23,000 and 47,000 children apprehended annually in each of the last five years. In 2014 the numbers continue to mount, with the Court system, shelters, community resource groups being overwhelmed. The backlog is high on hearing cases for granting asylum and many juveniles are not reporting back to the courts for their hearings at all. How will this make for organization and the ability to keep track of who is allowed into the country at all? Children at times can be as dangerous as adults, and we have several instances right here on home soil to prove that.

In recent months, the U.S. has been overwhelmed with finding shelter for children entering the country illegally, with President Obama repeatedly stating that they won’t be allowed to stay. When in fact this is not the truth. They will be allowed to stay for at least a year as many have been separated from their families, and need reunited. Whatever the outcome, Americans should expect to adapt to changes. I find it difficult to understand sometimes that the country that has allowed God to be taken out of schools and openly celebrated, would open in its doors in such a charitable manner. Your either COLD America or your HOT!
